To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of János Csengery, the Doctoral School of Education at the University of Szeged has established the János Csengery Memorial Medal.
This prestigious medal is awarded to researchers who have gained recognition in fields outside of education and have also played an important role in advancing educational science and development. The award aims to recognize their impactful contributions to education. The recipients are selected by the Council of the Doctoral School of Education, and the medal is presented during a dedicated ceremony to honor their significant contributions to the field.
The University may recognise the outstanding academic merit of deserving individuals, both national and foreign, by awarding them the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.

The Pro Laudanda Promotione award is granted by the University Doctoral Council to a maximum of six individuals per year who have obtained a PhD degree from the University of Szeged. Recipients must have completed an organized training program and fulfilled all requirements with outstanding quality.
